The Sage Congress promotes the sharing of genetic information and phenotypal information (visible personal characteristics) so that researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and public health agencies can collaborate to produce faster and more effective treatments. Through its annual congresses and other community-building activities, the organization has become a focal point for many groups interested in improving medicine, opening up access to information, and giving patients more rights.
