Family Support Cluster week 4 & 5
Submitted by Keith Porter on Wed, 2015-10-28 15:08
Week 4 our cluster had meeting with Penny from DSHS to discuss ideas and needs that she could see within programs she is connected to. After 30 min Q&A We did a site visit at an office in Tumwater which hosts familiy visitations. The purpose for our visit was to identiy ways to improve the conditions and space in which these visitations take place. Our meeting was very productive, and we are pursuing next steps to make this happen. I also had the opportunity to go visit and speak with staff at the Thurston Co. Familiy Resource center in downtown Olympia which also has 2 visitation rooms
I have spoken with 3 seperate businesses which showed good interest in giving financial resource to a project, as well as a couple of specific individuals.
Currenetly researching other visitation facilities which have been renovated and their impact on people using them.
Site visit and meeting scheduled with Evan Fagerness (did class presentation) from Green Hill School. The meeting is dual purpose to determine status of their visitation rooms and how they are conducted as well as further determining hwo we can partner with Green Hill on improving opportunites for incacerated youth as they transition back into society.
