Summary of spring quarter thus far

This quarter I engaged in the CIRAL Agriculture Group. We have been working on finding a way to get people in Mason County, Washington access to home food preservation knowledge and equipment. We are also exploring how to teach people the basics of growing their own food in the most natural way possible. We have met with several organizations in Mason County including the Saints Pantry Food Bank in Shelton, who were very helpful in providing us with statistics on just how serious the need in Mason County is for food access. We also spoke with members of the Mason Matters Group which is a non-profit organization that is working to help improve the health and quality of life of people who live in Mason County. They are very interested in working with us and have given us several contacts including a possible funding source through the Skookum Rotary Club and also a potential teacher for our food preservation classes. We are currently working on writing up a proposal for what our budget will be and a schedule for the classes. We are also working on promoting the classes and have recieved an avenue through Hood Canal Communications that would allow us to promote the classes for free through a community events channel on local cable television.
