Veterans Affairs and the Homeless
Submitted by snojul13 on Mon, 2015-11-16 22:52
This week I had a meeting with Scott Bloom, a representative from the Wa Dept of Veterans Affairs. We discussed alot things regarding the homeless crisis in Olympia, Lacey and Thurston County. We identified barriers that prevent Veterans from getting help; Lack of knowledge, communications, transportation, medical or mental issues and substance abuse. I was given a short list of available housing specifically for Veterans, most required entering a "program" to qualify but definitely worth looking at. There is also a Veterans Job fair that one of my team will be attending on Friday. It should be good oppurtunity to interview some of the particpants,
