Veterans Outreach

Last week we met with the missioncontinues.org representative Mr. Willie Dixon. Along with members of the SPSCC Veterans service center we learned about the current programs that this organization has. One is a fellowship program where the group sponsors and pays a small stipend per month to a veteran who wants to work for a non- profit organization for a period of 6 months. This fellowship is kicked off at a orientation community event at major cities throughout the country. The next one kicks right here in Seattle in April as a renovation of Rainer Beach High School will take place with over 200 participants. Hopefully members of our group will be there in attendance. The second program is a "platoon" program made up of Vets and volunteers, they are responsible for community projects in their area. There is a South end platoon in action currently and I'll be joining this platoon as well.
