Week 7 (Spring)

Non-profits

I met with the Centralia Downtown Association's Design Committee for the first time this week. Things went really well. I presented in detail the idea of a downtown Adopt-A-Block program after researching similar programs throughout the country. I "created" (borrowed and manipulated) an overview of the program details and "created" a Adopt-A-Block volunteer sign up sheet to present. The next step is to make a few adjustments to the documents and to formally submit them to the Committee leader for submission to City Council. When that is approved we will begin to seek community volunteers. The CDA Design Committee membership is a huge opportunity to enhance civic intelligence in my community.

Food Systems

I got into contact with local fresh chef, James Wheeler, and the Lewis County Beekeepers Association in regards to presenting to LC Head Start classrooms on healthy eating. Both confirmed interest and we are now in the planning and scheduling phase. James Wheeler is a former Head Start pupil and is excited to return to the classroom and the LCBK's have a member that home school's small children, and she already has an age appropriate presentation assembled that will work perfectly for the event.
