Discussion:

While written words can't prevent all misdeeds, this doesn't mean that they have no value. This pattern discusses (or will discuss) the benefits that Codes of Ethical Conduct can provide.

The act of writing a Code of Ethical Conduct can...

The act of reviewing and updating a Code of Ethical Conduct can ...

The act of adopting a Code of Ethical Conduct can ...

The act of publicizing a Code of Ethical Conduct can ...

People can even write Codes of Ethical Conduct for professions or other groups that don't have one.

This is building on some of George's work.....so as not to curtail ability of people who possess recognized professional (or other employment based) credentials / certifications to practice their "craft" in any way and for whatever purpose they choose, degrees / certifications / credentials would all be issued with an appropriately developed code of ethical practice — that individuals could choose to opt out of — which if done would be indicated on their title/honorific (e.g "M.D.sho" — sans Hippocratic oath)
